It has to be that everything Hashem tells us about going out of Egypt, is talking about your life today. So what does it mean in your life that Hashem said to hit the water and it turned into blood? If you look into the psukim, it first describes in great length how Moshe Rabbeinu comes to the yidden and he tries to give them chizuk. He said, ‘I had a vision, I want to tell you that there’s ד’ לשונות של גאולה, there's zchus avos…’ but sometimes, you can give chizuk and talk and talk, but nobody listens because their brain is elsewhere. That’s called apathy, being indifferent. Here there’s a new chidush. Hashem said, ‘I have a different technique, it's called makos. I will take water, I’m gonna take your ‘coldness’, your apathy, your indifference, and I’m gonna transform it into blood - into חיות - as it says, כִּי הַדָּם הוּא הַנָּפֶשׁ - “for the blood is the soul”. All we need from you is to have a little חיות, and once you have that חיות - everything is possible because you’re alive, it makes a difference to you.
