It was Motzei Shabbos and the Rebbe was sitting around with his chassidim, and he said "tell me a recent story that happened." And they said: The governor was going on a trip and he got lost, and he found his way to some peasant. The guy brought him in, he didn't know who he was, and he gave him some goat's milk and some straw to lay his weary bones on. And a few days later the governor came back and he made him a rich man. And the Rebbe said: Wow, imagine if somebody asks this rich man today "how did you make it big? He'll say "I gave straw and goats milk to the governor." But if you're going to run to the governor and offer him some goat's milk and straw, you'll probably be with one head shorter. The key is: you can't always give straw and milk to the governor; but when he comes to you, you most definitely can. Yom Kippur is when Hashem is coming to you, and all he needs from you is some "goat's milk and straw". Says Reb Chaim Shaul Bruk (a mashpia in chabad): Did you prepare your goat's milk and straw?
