[#888] Ki Savo: Tatty please speak to my Rebbe

Parshah - Ki Tavo
09/03/2017162

Everybody knows that the holy Baal Hatanya said that Elul is the time that Melech Basadeh, and you can actually catch a chat with the king in a field. Now, imagine you're actually siting there on a tree stump with the king, the water is flowing, now what? Reb Milech Biderman brings a Mashal: Three hundred and fifty years ago, what did you do when you couldn't afford a melamed for your child? You had to become your own melamed. And once upon a time there was a father, and he took his child and he became his melamed. And you know when a child wasn't learning, out came the belt. So this father-turned-melamed is siting with this child and the child doesn't know the learning, and he starts hitting him. And the child cries "Tatte, Tatte, stop hitting me!" And the father says "No, now I'm not your father, now I'm your teacher and you got to learn." And the next day the same thing happens again and again, until one day the child has a brainstorm. After they finished learning and they're walking home, he says "Tatte, are you my father now, or my teacher?" So the father says "Now I'm your father." Says the child: "Tatte, tomorrow when you're going to become my melamed, make sure he doesn’t hit me. Tatty, can you speak to my rabbi that he doesn't hit me again?" So when we sit there with the Melech Basadeh, that's the time when we experience that "my father is really my king". And then we can say: Tatte, Tatte, when you're going to be my king, could you make sure that I experience your love then too… Today.
